Delaware Civil War Society
he DCWS was incorporated in the fall of 1997 as a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization
dedicated to recognizing the efforts of the "First State" during the Civil War.
Unlike many organizations which are formed for only one project, the DCWS is a permanent body
dedicated to honoring the efforts and sacrifices of the Delawareans during the 1860's. DCWS is
currently sponsoring two separate projects, both related to Delaware's very active participation at
the Battle of Gettysburg.

Delaware Public Archives
The Delaware Public Archives provides many valuable resources for researching vital statistics records. Vital statistics records consist of births, deaths, and marriages. Since 1913, state law has required the recording of these vital records. The vital records of this State which are housed at the Delaware Public Archives are only those which have become
public (records). Delaware law indicates that once a birth record reaches 72 years of age and marriage and death records 40 years of age, they then become (open to the) public.
Deleware Genealogical Society
